Remembered as “the last of the bush balladists,” Edward ‘Ted’ Harrington (1895–1966) was also a poet of remarkable range. A veteran of the 4th Light Horse Brigade who took part in the famous mounted Charge at Beersheba, Harrington earned acclaim as a ‘Digger Poet’. Yet he was equally skilled at capturing city life in poems such as The Derelicts and celebrating beautiful places like Mallacoota.
